Condolences to President of France Francois Hollande

July 15, 2016

Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to President of the French Republic Francois Hollande on the many casualties among citizens of France and other countries in the terrorist attack in Nice.

“This crime, committed as your country celebrated its National Day, is shocking in its cruelty and cynicism. Once again we see that terrorism is completely devoid of any human morality: the victims are innocent civilians, including women and children,” the President of Russia wrote in his message of condolences.

The President emphasised that in order to defeat “this monstrous evil” the civilised world needs to combine its efforts to engage in a consistent and uncompromising fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations by eliminating and disarming these militants and their masterminds no matter where they are. We need to systematically destroy the infrastructure of underground extremist groups and block their financing. President Putin confirmed Russia’s interest in the closest possible cooperation with France and its other international partners in all counter-terrorist efforts.

Vladimir Putin passed on words of sympathy and support to the victims’ families and friends and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
