Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Georgios Papandreou.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Papandreou reviewed continued development of Russian-Greek relations, underlying that it is a priority for both countries.
Discussions of international issues focused primarily on the situation in and around Libya. Both leaders noted with satisfaction their close positions in this respect, especially on the need to resolve Libya’s internal problems through peaceful means only and on the understanding that the international community can provide assistance strictly within the limits of the mandate granted by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Both parties reiterated their readiness to act if required as mediators in the interests of reaching a settlement in Libya.
The telephone conversation was initiated by the Greek side.
