January 26, 2018

On January 29, Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, who will be in Russia on a brief working visit.

The leaders plan to discuss the development of Russian-Israeli cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas and pressing international and regional issues, including a settlement in the Middle East and the situation in Syria.

Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, where they will take part in the events timed to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the anniversary of the complete lifting of the Nazi siege of Leningrad.

In 2018, it will be 75 years since the uprising of prisoners in the Sobibor Nazi extermination camp, the only successful uprising during World War II. In this context the opening of the exhibition Sobibor: The People Who Defeated Death will occupy a special place in the programme of events. The revolt was led by Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky.

Earlier on the same day, the foundation stone will be laid at the future location of a monument to the heroes of Resistance in Nazi camps and ghettos.
