Visit to the Lorenzo Lotto exhibition

June 2, 2011, Rome

Svetlana Medvedeva, together with the wife of President of Italy Clio Bittoni Napolitano and the spouses of the heads of official delegations who arrived in Italy for the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the country’s unification, visited an exhibition of Italian late Renaissance painter Lorenzo Lotto (1480–1556).

The distinguished guests were accompanied on tour of the exhibition by the Director for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Adviser to the President of Italy, Louis Godart.

The exhibition shows 56 paintings, brought together for the first time in a single display from Italian, European and American museums and private collections, which provide the most complete picture of the artist’s main creative periods.

The exhibition is based at the Scuderie del Quirinale complex. An extensive Russian-Italian exhibition entitled “Russia-Italy: Through the Centuries from Giotto to Malevich” was held at this prestigious venue in 2005.
