Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Convention between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Italian Republic on the Avoidance of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion of April 9, 1996.
The Protocol was signed in Lecce on June 13, 2009.
The Protocol clarifies the Convention’s Article 27 on Information Exchange in order to improve the effectiveness of efforts against tax offences.
In addition, the Protocol amends some of the Convention’s provisions with regard to the abolition by the Italian Republic of local income tax and property tax for companies and the introduction of regional tax on manufacturing.
