Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano following an earthquake in northern Italy that resulted in casualties and damage to Italy’s historical and cultural heritage.
The President of Russia’s telegram reads, in part:
“Please accept my deepest condolences in connection with the consequences of a devastating earthquake that hit northern Italy – the human victims and serious damage caused to objects of historical and cultural heritage.
Please pass on the words of support and sympathy to the victims’ families and friends, and my best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured. I hope that the aftermath of this disaster will be successfully surmounted.”
