Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano following the death of Giulio Andreotti.
The message reads, in part:
“The entire era of modern Italian history is associated with the name of this prominent political figure. For decades Mr Andreotti occupied important government posts, was prime minister many times, and made a significant contribution to the country’s development.
In Russia we will remember Giulio Andreotti as a consistent advocate of strengthening friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries.”
The famous Italian politician passed away on May 6. He was 94.
