Vladimir Putin had talks in Milan with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
Mr Putin and Mr Renzi discussed the current state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on a number of current international issues.
The two leaders gave a joint news conference following their talks.
Earlier, Mr Putin and Mr Renzi took part in the opening ceremony of the National Day of Russia at Expo 2015.
