Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda.
Yoshihiko Noda congratulated Vladimir Putin on officially taking office as President of the Russian Federation.
During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged views on current issues in Russian-Japanese relations. Both sides expressed readiness to step up bilateral cooperation in all areas, including in the economy and security.
Mr Putin and Mr Noda agreed to continue a substantive dialogue regarding the full agenda of Russian-Japanese relations, including during personal contacts on the sidelines of multilateral international events.
