On October 12–13, Vladimir Putin will make an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic and will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Bishkek.
During his visit on October 12, Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral talks with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. The parties are expected to discuss the further development of Russian-Kyrgyz relations of strategic partnership and alliance in various areas, including with regard to Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship of the CIS this year and Russia’s chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union. A series of intergovernmental and interagency documents will be signed.
The leaders of the two countries will take part in a solemn event to mark the 20th anniversary of establishing a Russian military airbase in the Kyrgyz Republic.
On October 13, the President will take part in a meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council.
It is planned that the CIS country leaders will review the interaction within the organisation in 2023, outline the main areas for future activity, and exchange opinions on current international and regional issues. It is expected that Vladimir Putin will brief his colleagues on the priorities of Russia’s chairmanship of the CIS in 2024.
A package of documents aimed at further developing cooperation between the CIS states in the economic, cultural, humanitarian and law enforcement areas has been prepared for signing following the meeting.
The President of Russia will also hold separate meetings with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
