Dmitry Medvedev sent his congratulations to Chairman of the National Defence Committee of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong Il on the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
The message reads, in part:
”On September 9, 1948 a new sovereign state was founded on Korean soil. Since then, our countries have been united not only by a shared border, but also by relations characterised by friendship and cooperation.
I have warm memories of our recent meeting in Ulan-Ude. I would like to confirm Russia's interest in developing mutually beneficial relations with the DPRK, and in joint efforts to promote peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and in the entire Northeast Asia.“
