Russia-Kazakhstan talks

On the second day of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Russia, Vladimir Putin held talks with the President of Kazakhstan at the Kremlin.

The agenda focused on the further advancement of the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Kazakhstan in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as the main topics on the regional and global agenda.

Before the talks, an official welcoming ceremony was held, during which the heads of state welcomed the members of the Russian and Kazakhstani delegations.

During the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin signed the Declaration on the Transition of Interstate Relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Alliance.

During the visit, a package of documents was also signed, including the Comprehensive Programme for Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2026–2030 and intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in railway transit traffic and the transshipment of Russian and Kazakhstani cargo to be exported to third countries; on transport security cooperation; on ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, and on the establishment of a Russia-Kazakhstan interstate commission to oversee flight tests of the Soyuz-5 and Baiterek space rocket complexes.

Documents were also signed covering, in particular, the development of automobile checkpoints on the Russia-Kazakhstan state border and the establishment of interstate railway hubs; cooperation in the development of special economic zones; the establishment of Russian-Kazakhstani general education institutions in Russia and Kazakhstani-Russian general education institutions in Kazakhstan; and collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Additionally, a Joint Action Plan was signed to prepare for the transfer of Amur tigers from Russia to Kazakhstan and support their initial adaptation.

Following the talks, Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made statements for the media.
