Vladimir Putin will meet with President of Lebanon Michel Sleiman and Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia

January 22, 2013

The meetings will take place on January 23 in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin will meet with the President of Lebanon Michel Sleiman, who has arrived in Moscow to receive the annual prize of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations for his services in the promotion and strengthening of Christian values in the modern world.

It is planned that the bilateral meeting with Michel Sleiman will focus on the prospects for further strengthening Russian-Lebanese cooperation in trade, the economy, social sphere and culture. In addition, the two leaders will exchange views on topical international issues, in particular with regard to the situation in the Middle East.

The previous meeting between the presidents of Russia and Lebanon took place on February 25, 2010 during Michel Sleiman’s official visit to Russia.

Vladimir Putin will also meet with Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia, who was awarded the prize of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations for special merits in strengthening fraternal ties between Orthodox nations and churches.
