Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on Extradition.
The Agreement, drafted in accordance with existing contractual practice, Russian laws and international standards, was signed in St Petersburg on May 28, 2015, with a view to developing the international legal framework of Russian-Sri Lankan cooperation on extradition issues.
Under the Agreement, the parties undertake, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the Agreement’s provisions, to extradite, upon request of either party, individuals on the other party’s territory wanted for criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence in the requesting country.
