September 5, 2012

Vladimir Putin will meet with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Filat, who will be in Russia on a working visit, on September 12, 2012 in Sochi.

Mr Putin will discuss bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres with Mr Filat, as well as work together in the CIS. The two leaders will also exchange views on settling the Trans-Dniester issue.

Trade and economic cooperation is one of the top priorities in bilateral relations. Russia is one of Moldova’s main trading partners, accounting for 22 percent of Moldova’s foreign trade.

Cultural and humanitarian ties are also an important part of the two countries’ relations and have developed actively of late. A series of events – Days of Moldovan Culture – will take place in Moscow and St Petersburg on September 10–15, 2012, following on from the successful Days of Russian Culture events held last September in Moldova.
