Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Interim President of the Republic of Mali Assimi Goïta at the initiative of the Malian side.
The presidents discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special emphasis was laid on trade and economic ties including supplies of Russian wheat as well as fertiliser and fuel to Mali.
Assimi Goïta thanked Vladimir Putin for the humanitarian aid being rendered and for the assistance in ensuring security, neutralising the terrorist threat and stabilising the situation throughout Mali.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening traditionally friendly Russian-Malian relations.
