Vladimir Putin congratulated President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Nicaragua.
The message reads, in part:
“Russia and Nicaragua have built up a wealth of experience in bilateral cooperation over these decades. Our ties became especially close and we developed a particularly friendly partnership after the Sandinista revolution’s victory. This was a period when we built up productive cooperation in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other fields and the contacts between our citizens developed considerably too.
I am confident that we can make these achievements a foundation for continuing to develop the full range of our mutually advantageous ties and coordinate effectively our efforts to resolve current international issues. This is in both our peoples’ interests and promotes regional stability and security.”
