Dmitry Medvedev sent his condolences to Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key following an earthquake.
The message reads, in part:
“It was with great sorrow and concern that I learned about the earthquake in New Zealand, a major disaster that caused great loss of life and considerable damage.
Please convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved families and words of support to all those affected by this disaster.
Russia is ready to provide rescue assistance following the tragedy.
In this bleak hour I wish courage and fortitude to you and the entire friendly New Zealand nation.”
According to preliminary data, the devastating earthquake killed over 60 people and injured dozens.
