Dmitry Medvedev sent his condolences to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari following a terrorist attack in Lahore.
The message reads, in part:
“I was profoundly shocked by the latest terrorist attack in the Pakistani city of Lahore, in which dozens were killed and more than 200 civilians injured. Nothing can justify such inhuman acts, all the more so during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Russia resolutely condemns all forms of terrorism. I believe firmly that combating this global scourge requires coordination and increased effort from all members of the international community. In this respect it is important that the Pakistani authorities continue their consistent and uncompromising fight against terrorists and extremists. I have no doubt that the organisers of terrorist attacks will face harsh punishment.”
