Law on ratification of agreement between Russia and Poland on the local cross-border travel regime

June 16, 2012

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Poland on the Local Cross-Border Travel Regime.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on December 14, 2011.

The agreement is designed to create favorable conditions for the entry and stay of residents of border areas of Russia and Poland.

The agreement will apply to citizens of Russia and Poland, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons, who reside lawfully in Russia’s and Poland’s border areas for at least three years.

The agreement provides for simplified procedures for issuing visas to residents of border areas, making it easier for them to receive multiple-entry visas, as well as enabling them to visit border zones without special permits.
