More “Katyn case” documents revealed

December 3, 2010

As agreed between Dmitry Medvedev and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, Russia continues to reveal documents relating to the Katyn case (case No.159), launched by the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office.

The latest portion of declassified party archive documents were handed over to Polish representatives at the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office. This step reflects the new openness and constructive interstate dialogue the two countries have reached and aims to consolidate this positive trend in Russian-Polish cooperation, building greater mutual understanding and trust, including with regards to the most complex and tragic pages in the two countries’ common history.

Mr Medvedev will discuss Katyn with his Polish counterpart during his upcoming official visit to Poland on December 6–7, 2010.
