The President submitted to the State Duma a draft Federal Law On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation Government and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on Opening Customs Agencies of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
The agreement was signed in Dushanbe on September 23, 2015, pursuant to the President’s directive of May 19, 2015, with the aim of ensuring the effective implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs of April 15, 1994.
The opening of a Russian customs agency in Tajikistan stems from the need to enhance the efficiency of interaction between the two countries’ customs services within the framework of the April 15, 1994 agreement with the aim to improve passenger and cargo traffic between Russia and Tajikistan, ensure the correct payment of customs duties and prevent, suppress and investigate customs violations.
The drafts of the Russian Government Resolution and the federal law on the ratification of the Agreement are in keeping with the provisions of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014, and other international treaties of the Russian Federation.
