Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the 7th Conference on Russian-Tajikistani Inter-Regional Cooperation timed to coincide with President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Moscow.
The message reads, in part:
“These annual conferences have already become a good tradition. Participating representatives of central and local authorities, public figures, entrepreneurs, scientists and experts from our countries share best practices and discuss topical issues concerning bilateral cooperation.
Inter-regional links are an important aspect of the Russian-Tajikistani strategic partnership. There are currently over 80 agreements on cooperation between the regions of the two countries in various fields. There are joint projects in trade and the economy, infrastructure, industrial production, science and technology as well as social and humanitarian affairs. Conditions are being created for improving the investment climate.
It is important that representatives of younger generations of Russians and Tajikistanis are getting increasingly more involved in inter-regional contacts as we can see from the fact that the conference programme also includes a youth forum.
I am certain that you will be able to outline new and promising forms and mechanisms of inter-regional cooperation, and make a significant contribution to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and Tajikistan.”
