Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Independence Day, Tajikistan's national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the years, Tajikistan has made significant progress in strengthening its statehood and addressing important social and economic issues. The Republic’s international prestige has consistently increased due to its active and committed participation in regional integration.
I attach great importance to bolstering joint efforts for further development of Russian-Tajik relations based on the principles of strategic partnership. Our shared assets include a strong tradition of friendship and mutual assistance, long-term projects in trade, economy, culture and the humanitarian sphere. I am confident that the agreements reached during our recent meeting in Sochi will provide an additional impetus to their practical implementation and contribute to strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia.”
