Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the national leader of the Turkmen people, Speaker of Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is in Kazan to attend the Russia – Islamic World International Economic Forum.

Vladimir Putin and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov exchanged warm greetings for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and discussed issues concerning further development of the mutually beneficial strategic partnership between Russia and Turkmenistan.
