Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The two leaders discussed the situation in and surround Syria, including in the context of the recent tragic incident involving a Turkish military plane that was hit by Syrian anti-aircraft defence. It was emphasised that the circumstances of this incident must be thoroughly investigated. Mr Putin briefed Mr Erdogan on his visit to the Middle East.
The politicians also touched on current issues in bilateral relations. They expressed an interest in successfully holding another meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council in September in Turkey. Mr Putin and Mr Erdogan also agreed on future personal contacts.
