Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at the Turkish side’s initiative.
In the context of the Russian-Turkish summit talks that took place in Istanbul this October, the two leaders discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, and other areas.
Mr Putin and Mr Erdogan exchanged opinions on the Syrian crisis. The Russian side stressed, in particular, the importance of ensuring effective separation of the moderate opposition forces from the militants of Jabhat al-Nusra and affiliated groups.
The two politicians also touched upon the operation in Iraq to retake Mosul from ISIL.
It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels on bilateral and regional issues.
