Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The President of Russia again offered the Turkish leadership and nation his deepest condolences in connection with the major terrorist attack on December 10 in Istanbul, which claimed many lives. He confirmed that Russia is ready for further active cooperation to neutralise the terrorist threat in the Middle East.
The heads of state continued their ongoing exchange of views on Syria. In particular, they discussed the developments in Aleppo, and emphasised the need to build up joint efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and foster the start of a real political process in Syria.
They also discussed some current issues related to Russian-Turkish cooperation in energy and other spheres.
