Telephone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan

December 22, 2017

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The two presidents discussed the situation in the Middle East in the context of the UN General Assembly resolution on the status of Jerusalem. They reaffirmed their countries’ resolve to continue to promote a Palestinian-Israeli settlement based on international law and the right of the Palestinian people to have an independent state of their own.

Mr Putin and Mr Erdogan also exchanged views on the developments in Syria and the need for productive Russian-Turkish cooperation in the interests of attaining a lasting political settlement in the country.

They expressed hope that the concrete aspects of holding a Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi would be coordinated at the eighth International Meeting on Syria in Astana.

The two leaders also discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation, which is developing successfully in all spheres.
