July 11, 2022

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ahead of the upcoming Russian-Turkish summit, the two presidents discussed a range of issues of mutual interest. They focused on tasks to further promote economic cooperation, including measures to improve the contractual legal framework, boost trade and use national currencies in transactions, as well as to ensure uninterrupted supplies of Russian energy. The two leaders agreed on close interaction in these areas at the level of the co-chairs of the bilateral intergovernmental commission and the leaders of relevant agencies.

The exchange of opinions on the developments in Ukraine, including in terms of coordinating efforts to provide secure navigation in the Black Sea and the export of grain to the world markets continued.

While discussing the Syrian settlement, the two leaders emphasised the importance of the trilateral working format within the Astana Process, which includes Iran.

Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan and all people in Turkiye on Eid al-Adha.
