On July 12, Vladimir Putin will make a working visit to Yalta, Ukraine, where the fifth meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission will be chaired by the Heads of State.
The previous meeting was held in Moscow in November 2010. The agreement to hold the Commission’s fifth meeting was reached in May 2012 during a meeting of the President of the Russian Federation and President of Ukraine on the sidelines of the informal meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Moscow.
It is expected that during the talks with the participation of several Russian and Ukrainian ministers and heads of state agencies, the parties will discuss the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in such fields as energy, transportation, space exploration, cooperation in trade, the economy and defence, and humanitarian ties. Particular attention will be given to the gas sector and implementation of joint programmes in the aviation industry.
The parties will also hold consultations on the expansion of the legal framework for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet stationing in Ukraine and border issues, and discuss bilateral cooperation on pressing international problems.
It is planned that a number of Russian-Ukrainian documents will be signed during the meeting.
