Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France Francois Hollande and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
A discussion on settling the crisis in Ukraine took place in the so-called Normandy format with an in-depth analysis of the situation with implementing the Minsk Agreements of February 12, 2015. It was noted that there is certain progress on ensuring ceasefire and withdrawing the heavy weapons from the conflict zone.
Particular attention was given to creating working subgroups within the Contact Group, which will help ensure the necessary dialogue between Kiev authorities and Donbass representatives. It was agreed that the subgroups will hold their initial meetings in about a week. The timeframes for their work were established, which will be analysed in three months during consultations between the Normandy Four leaders.
The heads of the four nations also exchanged views on a set of issues concerning Russian gas supplies to Ukraine.
