Telephone conversation with President of the US Barack Obama

August 3, 2011

Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with President of the United States of America Barack Obama.

In line with an agreement reached during their previous telephone conversation on July 11, 2011, the Presidents had a detailed discussion on the negotiation process for Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.

It was noted with satisfaction that the momentum from both sides has been conducive to making significant progress in the negotiations. In this regard, it was stressed that the challenge of assuring Russia’s WTO membership by the end of 2011 seems entirely realistic. The two leaders exchanged opinions on further steps to accelerate and coordinate efforts in this direction.

Dmitry Medvedev expressed his warmest wishes to Barack Obama, who is celebrating his 50th birthday tomorrow, August 4.
