March 9, 2011

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on Establishing the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and their Precursors.

Under the agreement, the coordination centre will be a permanent body that will help to organize and carry out coordinated joint international operations and searches as part of the efforts to combat illegal drugs trafficking. The centre will also be responsible for collecting, storing, protecting, analyzing and using information on trans-border crime related to the drugs trade.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Russian Federation in Moscow on September 4, 2009.
