Vladimir Putin congratulated Islam Karimov on his victory in Uzbekistan’s presidential election.
The President noted in his message that election results confirm voters’ high level of support for Mr Karimov and recognition of his services in office as President and the results achieved in resolving Uzbekistan’s socioeconomic development tasks.
Mr Putin noted too the big personal contribution Mr Karimov has made to strengthening the alliance and strategic partnership between the two countries and said he hopes to continue the dialogue and cooperation on developing all areas of bilateral relations and the constructive joint work on regional and international matters.
