Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The two leaders exchanged warm greetings on the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. They stressed the special significance of this date for both nations that carefully preserve the memory of the unparalleled heroic actions of the soldiers on the front, and the home front workers.
The presidents expressed their satisfaction with the progressing developments in Russian-Uzbekistani relations of strategic partnership and alliance. They discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda with an emphasis on trade and economic cooperation. They focused on the further promotion of cooperation to counter the coronavirus pandemic, including plans for vaccine production in Uzbekistan.
Discussing developments in Central Asia, including in the context of the recent events on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the two presidents welcomed the agreements between Dushanbe and Bishkek to settle the conflict by political and diplomatic means, reaffirming their willingness to provide comprehensive support to further stabilise the situation.
The sides agreed to maintain contact at various levels.
