Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of congratulations to President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on Independence Day, Uzbekistan’s national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“Under your leadership over these last years Uzbekistan has achieved considerable success in its economic development, social and political transformation, and in consolidating its international standing.
The dialogue between our two countries is advancing on the principles of strategic partnership and alliance. I can state with confidence that our nations share not just a common history but also joint achievements in a wide variety of areas. Our productive and frank personal communication also plays a very positive part in promoting our bilateral ties and resolving practical matters swiftly and effectively.
I am sure that this close cooperation will continue to open up new opportunities for us to work together with mutual benefit in new spheres and help to strengthen regional security and stability.”
