Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory message to President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on the fifth anniversary of the signature of the Alliance Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The message reads, in part:
“This treaty has fundamental importance for continued dynamic expansion of our multi-faceted ties. It rests on the solid traditions of friendship and good-neighbourliness between our peoples, and our common desire to build a strategic partnership on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
Continued active political dialogue at all levels and joint effort to implement the treaty’s provisions will help to enrich our bilateral agenda with major new economic and humanitarian projects, constructive cooperation within integration associations, and effective coordination in regional and international affairs.
I am confident that this steady course of consolidating an alliance between our countries is keeping with our peoples’ fundamental interests and our common objectives for strengthening stability and security in Central Asia.”
