Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Truong Tan Sang on his election as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The message reads, in part:
“In Russia you are known as a firm supporter of continued strengthening of the time-tested relations of close cooperation between our two countries.
Broadening of mutually beneficial political, economical and humanitarian links with Vietnam is among top priorities for Russia’s foreign policy in Asia-Pacific region.
I am looking forward to constructive contacts with you, Mr President, for the purposes of further advancement of the Russian-Vietnamese all-enhancing strategic partnership to the benefit of our peoples and in the interests of peace, stability and progress in the Asia-Pacific region.”
In his message, the Russian leader also invited President of Vietnam to make an official visit to the Russian Federation. The time of the said visit is to be coordinated by the diplomatic agencies of the two countries.
