Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh on his 70th birthday.
The message reads, in part:
“Please accept my sincere congratulations on your 70th birthday.
You are well known and deeply respected in Russia as a prominent party figure and statesman, the supreme leader of the friendly Vietnam. Your name is associated with impressive achievements of the Vietnamese people in the dynamic socio-economic prosperity of the country and the implementation of the renewal and modernisation policy, which is turning Vietnam into a modern developed state literally before our eyes. We highly appreciate your exceptionally friendly attitude towards Russia, a significant contribution to strengthening the Russian-Vietnamese strategic partnerships, which corresponds to the long-term fundamental objectives of our interstate cooperation.
I have warm memories of your visit to Moscow in July 2010 and our substantive talks, which took place in the atmosphere of friendship, openness and mutual trust traditional for our bilateral relations. I'll be glad to meet with you again in the autumn in Hanoi during my upcoming visit to Vietnam.
I look forward to continued fruitful collaboration on expanding our constructive multi-faceted cooperation for the benefit of our countries and peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
