Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong on the 40th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification.
The message reads, in part:
“This memorable date is a reminder of the courage, steadfastness and heroism of the Vietnamese people who fought to defend their right to freedom and independence. It was then that the solid foundation of friendship and cooperation between our countries was laid.
I am convinced that relying on the glorious traditions of the past, we will further expand the entire range of mutually beneficial Russian-Vietnamese ties. This fully meets the interests of the two nations’ citizens and is line with ensuring peace, stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region.”
