Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to participants and guests of a meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Society.
The message reads, in part:
“The overall history of relations between our countries is inseparably linked with the Society’s activities. This respected public organisation has been contributing to strengthening mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of Russia and Vietnam for six decades.
The success achieved recently in the progress of the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership has been largely made possible thanks to the active efforts of people’s diplomacy, including along the Friendship Society’s lines. The Society plays a particularly significant part in building up mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation in culture and science, education and training, sport and tourism as well as in expanding contacts between the regions of the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and between Russia’s and Vietnam’s twin cities.”
