Another round of practical consultations of the national anti-corruption bodies of Russia and Vietnam were held to promote relations of the two countries’ comprehensive partnership.
On February 18–20, a delegation of the Russian Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate representatives from St Petersburg and the Republic of Tatarstan’s agencies for combatting corruption and other crimes visited Vietnam at the invitation of the member of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party and Vietnamese Government Inspector General Le Minh Khai.
The Russian delegation headed by Deputy Head of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate Alexander Anikin discussed issues of fostering Russia-Vietnam cooperation in fighting corruption with the Permanent (First) Deputy Prime MinisterTruong Hoa Binh, Vietnamese Government Inspector General Le Minh Khai, and chairpersons of the Peoples’ Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
The Vietnamese partners reported, in particular, on successful application of the Russian experience in establishing strategic foundations for countering corruption. The Vietnamese officials highly praised a set of consistent anti-corruption measures in the Russian National Plan to Combat Corruption for 2018–2020.
During the consultations, the participants discussed the overall approaches and specific situations that arise in solving issues to prevent conflict of interests, minimise instances of corruption in procurement, control over expenses and forfeiture to the state of the property purchased through unjustified income.
The Russian delegation’s members from St Petersburg and Tatarstan added issues of developing social, cultural, economic and investment ties to the agenda of the regional anti-corruption cooperation during their working dialogues with representatives of the People’s Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
The Russian side invited the Vietnamese officials to pay a return visit to Russia.
