Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet on Vietnam’s national holiday, the 65th anniversary of independence.
The message reads, in part:
“The achievements of the Vietnamese people in state building and modernisation of the national economy are truly impressive while the international prestige of Vietnam has been growing with each passing year.
I highly value the dynamic development of our bilateral strategic partnership which I believe fully meets the fundamental interests of the Russian and Vietnamese peoples.
Your participation in the celebrations to mark the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the official visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh to the Russian Federation made a great contribution to strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Vietnam.
I hope that my forthcoming visit to your country will further reinforce the Russian-Vietnamese ties, and give a new impetus to our cooperation.”
