Message of congratulations to President of the Republic of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab

September 30, 2011

Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of congratulations to President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab on the republic’s national holiday, Independence Day.

The President said, in particular, in his message:

“This holiday has become part of your country’s newest history and a symbol of your successful attainment of the right to build your own independent democratic state.

The sovereign Republic of Abkhazia is working hard on its social and economic development, and on guaranteeing its security and securing international recognition. The presidential election in August was a vivid demonstration of Abkhazia’s steady progress in strengthening the country’s government institutions and civil society.

Russia will continue to help in every way possible the friendly people of Abkhazia in their state-building work and implementing social and economic projects.

I am sure that Russian-Abkhazian cooperation will continue its dynamic development for the good of our peoples and in the interests of peace and stability in the region.”
