Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs.
The Agreement was signed in Sukhum on October 16, 2010.
The Agreement will facilitate the implementation of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia of September 17, 2008.
The Agreement is aimed at intensifying cooperation in customs control and prevention of customs violations, and facilitating passenger and cargo transportation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia.
The Agreement provides for the establishment by mutual agreement of the parties of specialised customs agencies in the signatories’ territories: a Russian agency in Abkhazia and an Abkhazian agency in the Russian Federation.
