December 23, 2013

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia on the Goods Trade Regime.

The Agreement was signed in Moscow on May 28, 2012.

The Agreement establishes a duty-free regime for trade in goods between the two countries. A number of goods are exempt from the regime, including sugar, alcohol and tobacco products.

Under the Agreement, export duties can be set for a number of goods in cases that come under the provisions of Russian law.

The Agreement also contains provisions for the gradual abolition of customs duties imposed on imports of goods from Russian customs territory to Abkhazia’s customs territory.
