Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the second Russian-Abkhazian Humanitarian forum, Abkhazia and Russia: the Role of People’s Diplomacy in Strengthening a Unified Sociocultural Space.
The President’s telegram said, in particular:
“It is pleasing to see that your forum has become an important and much-awaited event in our countries’ lives. Today, the participants will discuss a broad range of issues related to developing scientific, education, and cultural contacts between Russia and Abkhazia. You will outline plans for future work, including the implementation of joint social projects and initiatives.
It would be hard to overestimate the importance of people’s diplomacy in the modern world. It plays a big part in resolving global and regional problems and in strengthening bilateral ties. It enables us to expand considerably our humanitarian, social, and trade and economic relations, make them more dynamic and give them greater substance. Of course it also enriches our national cultures and reinforces our good-neighbourly ties.
I am sure that the friendship between our peoples will continue to provide a solid foundation for partnership and cooperation between Russia and Abkhazia.”
