Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma for ratification the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, signed in St Petersburg on May 28, 2015.
Under the Agreement’s provisions, the parties undertake on a reciprocal basis and respecting the conditions set out in the Agreement to transfer sentenced persons to serve their sentence in the country of their citizenship. The receiving party guarantees that the sentence will continue to be served in accordance with its laws. The Agreement sets out conditions for the transfer of sentenced persons.
The Agreement does not concern matters regulated by the Agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union and does not contradict Russia’s other international legal agreements.
