Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to Alan Gagloev on his election as president of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The message reads, in part:
“I hope your efforts in this high position will contribute to further strengthening relations between our countries based on the principles of alliance and strategic partnership.
Russia, for its part, will continue to fully support our South Ossetian friends in resolving current issues of socioeconomic development as well as in ensuring its national security.”
